Save the kittens!

righto - i just realised we could use our time at school to do some good in a cause we feel passionate about and call it learning as well!
What do you think?

For those of you wanting to, you could change the focus of your Hamilton Inquiry to be specifically about something you feel strongly about. If you aren't feeling excited about your essential or 'foundation' questions perhaps you might like to come up with something different.
Could we take up the challenge of finding out what Hamilton is doing to look after its huge stray cat population?

Can we make a difference? Who is responsible? What do you think should or could be done?
IS there a social action we could take? What is the best way for us to get our message to an audience? Who should that audience be? The Hamilton City Council? Our school? The Riverside Cluster? The newspaper? Can we educate others? If so, what should our message be?

Post all the ideas you have. State questions that need answering. Propose ways of finding out information. State what you would like to do once you have done your research - you can always refine your project along the way.

go for it!

you sure do ask a lot of questions mr woody! but, back to the point, I'm doing this with Jess and we've already started to realise how bad it is!!! but, anyway, we've found out so much stuff and we already know our plan of attack! We're going to start with the school then the council and then maybe even further than that!!!

Zuzu - it shouldn't have been a surprise that your details were there since you typed them in yourself as part of a comment and entered other details as part of your profile. however, don't apologise - i am only looking out for your safety.
as for your investigation of the council planners, it would be cool if you let me know before you do things so we can coordinate our efforts. on the other hand - who am i to hold back such an innovative young person - it's a great avenue to investigate. well done. i am planning to invite one of the city councillors in nextterm to talk about city planning - perhaps we could think about designing sensible suburbs with better traffic flow, bus routes, walkways, northfacing homes, etc.
if none of this makes sense, ask me about it.
get well soon!

hey why are there lots and lots of cats in nz??

good news pizza boy 8>)

mr brainy - you hav edone th emaths regarding th cat multiplication [possibilities, haven't you? doesn't that explain it? also, some people are irresponsible pet owners.

it's not fair on the animals. i believe all pet owners should have to be registered and pass a test before they can have one.

what do you think? discuss it with someone - there may be good reasons why my idea isn't practical or fair. then again, maybe i'm right!

Nice entry Zuleka - good research and well posted info for other students to read.
When I went to 'The Pound', next to the SPCA, last Wednesday, there were 35 dogs there. One very cute little lost puppy was dropped in while I was there.
Is it really $200 per kitten at the SPCA? that's is amazing - on one hand, it may put off bad pet owners from getting one, but I guess it results in less being taken too.
SO sad.
keep thinking.

of course i can't tell you who to email and who not to - its a free country - but, if you mention peachgrove you best show me first.
essentially, when you speak on your own behalf, you are free to act as you see fit. when you speak for others, intentionally or otherwise, it is best to ask them first.
i suggest you contact jessica and sigrid to see what they want to do about the cat issue. they are working on it too.
i would like to see some quality work/ideas/questions/resources posted on our cluster LMS.
hope you're feeling better!

you can do whatever you want if it's educational and you're passionate about it.
following the dog issue is a great a idea.
just be careful not too get too upset by some of the information you discover.
we could be a powerful group of advocates for positive change.
i believe a motivated student like yourself and your friends could achieve great things. why not?
i will help you.

I've put some cat food in the box at the office. Cats are my life-you may have guessed. I feel really sorry for the poor little kitties, they need homes. I wish that people could buy them (including me).
My heart bleeds for the cats. =-(.

Hey Mr Woody!!! Jess and I are probably going to the Humane Alternative shelter this weekend and interviewing Norma. Great post Zuleka!!! Anyway, My mum and I donate time and money, not food. The money is used for medical reasons and the time is, do I have to say, GREAT because then they get to do displays. TIP FOR CATGIRL: If you want to help, see if your mum or dad can help out at the stalls. It's great fun and you get to hug them all you want! But you have to make sure that their over 16 years old. OK?

I thinkmwe should do the carwash again, that was fun and it was enough money to desex a cat.

I think if people want to have a pet they have to sign this form saying rulz and if they don't they will pay a fine.
