California Academy of Sciences Aims to Be the Greenest Museum on Earth:
What a great idea. We also have greener work environments being developed in Hamilton East - Kakariki House is a newly designed sustainable, green work place.
Could our school be greener? It sure could. I wonder why we continue to develop old fashioned buildings and work places...

I think we could ditch the coal-heating system. I have no other, green ideas though.
Hey, I came to school with apple-mint and asslym flowers, go me. But I planted the flowers so they will probably die :(
hi,
i agree with leina we should use other alternatives,i not sure of others but i think we should always be careful of the resources that we are extremely lucky to have.

The Kakariki House is on Grey street by Mc'Donalds.
wow. i've never been there. its pretty clever.
This looks cool!!
HELLO!!!!!!!!
I really think thatt is a good idea, what with all this global warming we need to deal with and stuff. It would also be cool to look at. I think a Kakariki House in Hamilton will be awesome too!!! I'd love to work in a place thats all eco-friendly and full of trees and stuff.
BYE!!!
P.S.
I'm Primprim
I went past there today it's pretty cool. We should go there for a field trip. I think that the school should stop doing the old fashioned heating style because it's contributing to global warming and it doesn't heat the class THAT much. Our school could definitely be greener. How many trees are there in the school? We could do that vege garden. (Kind of irrelevant to keeping green but hey, what the heck).
Well, without the coal heating system we would be freezing in our socks! But I do think we need to find a better way to heat the school. I've never been to the Kakariki house either! Kerli, Einstein says 'Everything is relevant!' but that actually has alot to do with Keeping green!!!
I think a field trip would be great. to answer your question maybe they do it because they are 1.Perfectionists (afraid they will do it wrong.)
2.Lazy, (they want to do it the easy way.)
3.Just don't really care for the environment
This is off topic but it's cool! It's called the Optimist Creed!
*
To be strong that nothing can disturb your peace of mind
*
To talk health, happiness and prosperity to every person you meet
*
To make all your friends feel that there is something in them
*
To look at the sunny side of everything and make your optimism come true
*
To think only of the best, to work only for the best and to expect only the best
*
To be just as enthusiastic about the success of others as you are about your own.
*
To forget the mistakes of the past and press on to the greater achievements of the future
*
To wear a cheerful countenance at all times and give every living creature you meet a smile
*
To give so much time to the improvement of yourself that you have no time to criticize others
*
To be too large for worry, too noble for anger, too strong for fear and too happy to permit the presence of trouble
We should all be like this! :o)
The Academy of Sciences was build when the previous academy got destroyed by an earthquake.
It is made of 100% recycled metals.
It uses solar as the primary energy source.
Uses the garden on the roof as insulation.
It has an aquarium with real corals (and heaps of fish) in it, plus, it has a forest.
The Academy also has window like things on the roof, which open and close to keep the temperature suitable for plant life.
My dad is going to work there soon apparently it's really cool.
That creed is SO COOL!
It sound awesome!!! Our school could definitely improve... like more tree's, classes actually using the worm bins and things like rthat. WE are doing a lot so far, which is great, but we could definitely try harder.
Roo's right it was awesome!!!
