Please start thinking of a topic - brainstorm, mind map, randomly select... actually, talking about something you are passionate about is often a good idea. Alternatively, try being amusing. The audience must be entertained, to keep their interest, even if you are dealing with a serious topic. Avoid making lists of facts to repeat ad nauseum.
The speech must be 3 minutes long exactly.
We will develop the speech in class. You just need to start thinking and researching ideas.
Good luck - try to make it fun!

im not truly understanding wat we are doing
Do we pick a topic or are there certain topics like in science fair?
Kitty Kat:
I think it is random.
My friends told me that but they said they could be a 3minutes to 3minutes 30.
I might do mine on my cat.

yay im excited to do my speech. i dont know what it will be on though...
1. the topic can be anything.
2. the speeches need to be within ten seconds either side of 3 minutes.
3. we are going to work on them in class wit hteaching points to understand, advice, practice, etc.
4. you do not nee dot start doign them at home yet.
5. i will not put you in a position where you feel too threatened.
6. just start thinking of ideas until we discuss it at school
7. bribe mr woody, not mr cooper
miss candy - what do you mean? your typos make your message difficult to understand.
Ok!!!!!!!!!
Does mr Cooper teach us all day everyday or do you have a block each day where you are ment to teach us?
I am apprehensive, never did a proper/contest/formal speech before
I might do mine on Sparta or my cat.... Maybe an animal I don't now....

are we allowed to base it on a moral question from a book???????
put your hand up if you understand the words "you can do it on anything"....
apprehension is fine, Pom - i woudl be too. you will learn to harness the energy of your apprehension to add strength to your presentation.
btw, you can use props - in fact it is encouraged.
you will get a marking schedule to show you what the judges are looking for.
as for mr cooper - this week is his full control week - so i'm not meant to do anything. not even supposed to be there really.
however, i think i will slip in a few special lessons to keep you on your toes... if he agrees.
;>)
grrrrrrrr...speeches... i have done them, like, every year!!!

I LOVE SPEECHES SO MUCH!! they are one of my favourite subjects at school. i just love thinking of topics and writing it is really fun to but i love to get up infront of people and share it the most!
I love speeches so much Too!!! Last year i won my speeches last year and got a cool trophy presented to me by the mayor of hamilton. Yay! Unfortunately i had to take it back on monday and present it to the new winner. I got this little cute trophy instead to keep. i came 3rd the year before that too. is our speech on anything we like though. I hope it is because i've got some cool ideas. Bye for now. :)
I think that most people would enjoy speeches more if we didn't have to stand up infront of people and say it or if we just had to say it infront of the class.
