Crikey! You are trapped in time AND space - back in the 18th century just prior to the arrival of Cook's Endeavour. What is NZ/Aotearoa like? What are you going to do? How will you survive?
This is the basis of your partly self-directed study. For the research component, what will you investigate? What new knowledge can you bring to your group to help you survive?
Stone age tool making? Traditional fishing techniques? An understanding of the flora and fauna of the time? Familiarity with traditional Maori etiquette or language? How to find drinking water? How to navigate using the stars?
Come up with your own ideas and I will help you construct your own research projects.
Have a go.

Ernest - you make a good point. very insightful. but don't worry - we'll try to ignore those possibilities so we can do some problem solving and enjoy the task.
amal - your ideas are fantastic - we will do drama to kinda bring it to life.
well done everyone!

Hi peoples! 4 finding items, we could brain-storm the kind of things we'd b carrying in our pockets(our P.E. shorts DO have them), choose 6, & let the dice decide if we get them! Also, mr woody could randomly give out surprise items 2 groups that r being good. NEway, if mr woody decides not 2 but tells no-one, at least the class would b quiet 4 a change :-)!
C u, Catgirl.
aha! now i think catgirl is someone from last year's class - maybe Meher....
although Meher would have called herself greengirl....
I saw Tuhua/Mayor Island today and yesterday. today it was shimmering at the extreme edges and looked like it was floating on silver liquid. can anyone explain why?
Tonks - be respectful please. It's MR Woodcock to you.
And yes, the silver haze beneath the edges of Tuhua when seen on a bright sunny morning from a great distance was real... but how was it caused?
See who can explain it first.
obsidian is dark green or black, blondbob... keep thinking - nice to have you aboard.
