any jobs you fancy?

when i was your age i really wanted to be a wildlife documentary maker and primatologist/zoologist. i was fascinated by the natural world, particularly animals, and i enjoyed wildlife docos on tv. i learnt a lot from being interested and just observing or finding out for myself through books, etc. we had no computers and the internet didn't exist.
sadly i never really pursued it because i didn't really get encouraged to follow my passion. advice was given with the best intentions, and it made sense in many ways, but it was to follow things i had no interest in. the down side of that was that i spent at least a decade of my adult life farting around doing jobs i didn't like until i eventually got the courage to study things i liked at uni and found myself doing this cool job. however, i would rather have been a film maker cartoonist zoologist.
what are your passions and interests that might lead to a career? remember, you will and can change what you do as you go through life. your future will hold many amazing possibilities - there are already so many more things you can do than were possible when i was growing up. the world is your oyster! listen to your heart and dare to dream 8>)

um, im not really that sure, i kind of want to study something, then get a job involving that, then get lots of job opportunities and hopefully, end up doing something i love.

i would like to learn how to fly i glider or something, i think that would be really fun. As i have gotten older my interests have changed, so i dont really have any idea.

i think anyone can be anything they aim to be if they strive and work hard to achieve whatever it takes to get there.

i also think that you need lots of support and encouragement from your family and friends, but i guess i might be hard becaues you might not always get the approval you hope for

there are hundreds of things I want to be!
when I was 7 I wanted to work at the ice cream parlour so I could taste all the different kinds of icecream.
now I want to be a vet, an ornithologist, an artist and I want to work for the SPCA and own heaps of animals and maybe start a boarding kennel.

but I can't be all of those can I?

IM A ROOM5IAN said...

maybe you could experience all of those things at different times rather than all at once.

Piglet said...

Theres way to many choices. but i guess you just follow your dreams no matter how impossible it may sound. now that primprim mentioned it i would like to work at the willy wonka chocolate factory so i could taste all the sweets he makes!

shorty said...

I would absolutely looooove to get a job travelling around the world meeting different animals from different contries it would be soooooooooooooo cool

SpUdArOoNy said...

Well, iv'e really only had one dream all of my life! and that's singing! but i think it is very unlikely that THAT wouldcome true..but people have told me to follow my dreams no matter what! and that's exactly what i shall do!

BUT! My mum was a police officer, and after all the stories i've heard, and after visiting the police collee and evrything, and all the parliment buildings, i would really like to go to law school also! and study Law!

SpUdArOoNy said...

Yea shorty, that sounds cool too!

what is an ornithologist primprim?

IM A ROOM5IAN said...

i used to want to be an air hostess because of the travel and also after i saw this movie (cant remember what it was called), beacause of all the crashes that could happen, and because of the hours. but then again, if i start small it could become something huge!!!! hehe. hmmmmmmmm....hearing all of these other could-be-jobs triggers some other interests in my brain....
well, i guess ill start at uni and see what they have to offer then see what happens after that.
i dont like it how some people pressure (maybe not on purpose) other people into chosingb what they want to do then and there kind of thing, i think that you have a better chance of getting a suitable job is by working hard, not really planning, and taking opportunities and risks.

if i can remember rightly i wanted to work at the warehouse or the dairy because i thought you could get all the stuff that you wanted from there for free. but i changed my mind when i saw someone in the warehouse uniorm lining up behind me waiting to buy a coke.

primprim said...

an ornithologist is a person who studies birds and helps species like the kiwi and little blue penguin survive.
bird watching kinda inspired me to be an ornithologist because it made me think about beautiful, happy birds and how some don't get to live their life to the full.

Piglet said...

Sounds like a really cool job. i wish there was something like that for pigs!!

why do we( as in humans)act so differently to other animals? according to evoloution we should've orringated for chimps and apes right? so why do we work and go to school or sit in front of the t.v eating choclate? shouldn't we be wild?

IM A ROOM5IAN said...

hmmmmmmmmm...great question miss candy!

that job about traveling arounf the world, visiting different animals is kind of like what Darwin did....

LONG LIVE THE GUPPY TREES!!!!!!!!!

Miss Candy said...

we should be free of tests and exams and jobs and do what we like and there should be no law or man made items! lets live live like the other animals, why can't we? we're one of them too! all meat can be free range, no school to cry upon! do you think the human race could survive it? sounds like a tough challenge, guess we could replace t.v with riding horses
bareback! that would be sweet!
