did you know, the great pyramid is 33 double decker buses high?!

IM A ROOM5IAN said...

question; in the DVD it says that wall went down underground, does that mean that the great pyramid does too, is it taller than we think?

Miss Candy said...

yip, i know...

Kitty Kat said...

Cool!
I have that site posted on my blog!

primprim said...

it might room5ian, thats what i think!
by the way i've made a new wiki about my ancient egyptian inquiry question; why do egyptians like cats so much?

how do you think they moved the blocks of limestone to the pyramid?

cehsavage said...

My blog is now completely different apart from the text. Does anyone know the username and password for the room 5 wiki. Please comment on my blog. Dont worry I have to moderate the comments before it gets published. My addition to the random evolving story might just have something to do with my username...

cehsavage said...

I write a lot less than every body else except for now.

That was pointless information from pointless information news

Skipper Bob said...

talking about inquary questions mr woody is this a acceptable question????

Why did they build pyramids Why not something like a cube????

is the answer possible to find????

Paper scissors, I think the limestone blocks were taken from their quarries on the Nile river to the site of the Pyramids, then hauled by workers and perhaps cattle to the construction site. They relied a lot on man power back then. The workers were paid mostly in food, onions, I think. A good book is the Awesome Egyptians, and is a horrible histories book. I have my own copy at home.
P.S: Check on my blog for a cool thing I have about racism.

did you know that the great pyramid weighs as much as 870,000 double decker buses?!?!?!
(those of you you who did the challenge will already know this)(
the pyramid is sooo amazing! i really want to go to Egypt to see it!

yes an egypt trip would be very cool!
i'm just back from Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix and it was...good i supose...
I thik that maths in the pyramids is really clever!!!!
Also I was thinking about my question.
'Did Ancient Egypt have clear seasons and if it did then what were they and what clothing did they where in each season?'
I han't finished my knowledg attack quite yet but Very Almost....

IM A ROOM5IAN said...

i think it is quite hard to know when you have finished your knowledge attack......that is a cool question kitty kat! er, who is paper scissors?

cehsavage said...

Paper scissors is Mr Whacky! Skipper bob, i think it was because pyramids are strong shapes because of triangles. Squares and cubes are weak so i dont know why they built square based pyramids instead of triangular based.

P.S: I found this out when playing with magnetix.

MrWoody said...

thats a good point, room5ian - lets discuss it tomorrow as a class. you need a clearer guideline for this phase of the inquiry unit.

and mr whacky - great feedback to skipper bob about the strength of different shapes. no doubt yo uhav elooke dat her science fair project and can see how your comments are quite relevant.
yours is the best comment today...so far.

An Egypt trip would be Fantastic....

Did anyone know that pictures of spaceships, submarines and helicopters were found on ceiling beams of a 3000 year old temple. Scientists suggest the Egyptians knew something about the technology we use today..... SPOOKY !!!!!!

IM A ROOM5IAN said...

skipper bob, Egyptologists have developed many theories about why the tombs of the early pharaohs were built in the pyramid shape. Here are three different ideas:

The pyramid represented the first land to appear at the beginning of time- a hill called 'Ben-Ben'.

The pyramid had sloping sides so that the dead pharaoh could symbolically climb to the sky and live forever.

The pyramid represented the rays of the sun.

when pyramids were almost finished, a special block covered in shining metal (either gold or electrum) was placed on the top of the pyramid.

all of this info is off the website provided in the post.

IM A ROOM5IAN said...

oh! ok! hi er, paper scissors!!

Anonymous said...

you can see the pic of the spaceships and stuff on my blog

IM A ROOM5IAN said...

i will go there right now.....

IM A ROOM5IAN said...

wow i definately reccommend checking out that thing on diamond girls sparkling blog.....creepy!

Kitty Kat said...

The pyramid shapes are very usful in terms of earthquakes which were not unknown in Egypt.
Also perhaps the build up of sand would put preasure on the sidesof the pyramids which could also cuse the side of the pyramid to be dislodged from its place.
Perhaps the pyramids would have had a base on them to stop them from going to far underground.

I have made a blog

FINALLY

IM A ROOM5IAN said...

cool! that is a good point kitty kat. im going to your blog right now shorty....

IM A ROOM5IAN said...

if that wall in the vidio goes underground so deep, then is the great pyramid bigger than it really seems? if so, i think that archaeologists should somehow, dig/get down to the base of the pyramid, as that is where they said the doors to tombs etc are.there, unless they already have, they should find more answers, questions, and unlock more mysteries (this all could also be done with other pyramids)

p.s. this is just a random little tangent i went off on and please excuse it if it i incorrect....hehe

Kitty Kat said...

yes...I'm not very well today so I'm not at schol but I though I might tell you that we're going away this weekend so I won't b able to blog.

i just had remembered, egyptians who have been mummifyed are believed to come back alive. my essential question is based on this, i just want to know why do they believe that? because i think its going to lead to many interesting theories, lots of interesting articles and many different subjects! Or maybe my information i picked up is wrong, maybe they dont believe that they will come back alive! Many wonderful mysteries of the world!

Anonymous said...

Great Question miss candy !!!

I assume they believed that they would come alive in the after life, thats why they were put in tombs with boats and treasures and stuff.

where are you guys going i'm going to snowplanet

sorry for you guys who do not like unrealeated commentsbut its one of the only places to put it and its where mr woody told me to put it!!!

for a challenge i will be designing a tecnology challenge to build a boat (sail boat) i have not got far but...
here are some rules for the boat challenge:
you have to have a sail
you are not alowed a motor apart from one to turn the rudders (a long board at the back of the boat which turns from side to side for steering)
you can not just buy a fancy model
it must be specified size (i will say size later)
can be trimaran (a boat with 3 floating bits joined by a net)catamaran (same as trimaran but 2 bits) or monohull with keel (1 bit and a keel is a heavy wieght down in the water to stop the boat from tipping (like team new zealands buzzy bee)
must not be made of paper
must be propelled by the wind and inclued a mast and boom

help!
does this make sense?
do i use to much sailing language?
can you understand the rules?????

IM A ROOM5IAN said...

sort of skipper bob, ill look forward to more information, have fun at snow planet!

they put boats in the tombs as transport to the after life....also, did you know, king tuts tomb is the only tomb to remain all most untouched(does this make sense? i think it is worded wrong)

IM A ROOM5IAN said...

i went to he rugby it was a late might but it was absolutely awesome!!!!!! it was fantasstic to see so many supporters and so much encouragement! in the end we won, with one non-converted try, and all other points were scored by penilties......the All Blacks have definately made New Zealand proud, and yes, they did win both the tri-nations and the bledisloe cup!!!! also, well done to the new zealands netball team for their 1-point diference win, and there is an interesting story behind that...

er, nate dawg, what are the two words 'happy' and 'week' in maori?

Kitty Kat said...

yeah moari language sites are rare as it is only spken in NZ.

Miss Candy said...

wow, from egyptian pyramids to moari culture...what a change!!!

primprim said...

happy maori week everybody!!!
by the way, this isn't relative but i know how you say "my name is..." in Thai.
If you are a girl, you say:
ฉันชื่อ..
(chan cheuu...)
if you are a boy, you say:
ผมชื่อ
(phohm cheuu...)
Thai language is really funny. They don't have a "P" sound, so my first name a pronounced with a b as the first letter and prim is pronounced "Kim", with a K. When we moved to New Zealand, we changed the pronounciation to a "P" sound.
