animal camp is fantastic! our kids must have been the best group. we did cool things and everyone had a great time - i hope.
feel free to post opinions about animal camp. we'd love to hear from other animal campers who may get into blog use like the ROOM5IANS have.

yay!!! hooray for animal campers, i too had a great time and i thought the camp was really well organised and successful, well done mr woody and miss lewthwaite! i think that hamilton zoo is miles better than auckland zoo especially the chimps and tiger cage. the kiwis seemed pretty happy but there was a meercat that was pacing along the wall, hmmmmmm >:(
another intersting thing was that another man actually took the credit for evolution theories, but darwin had thought of it first, and had proof with one of his articles/books, he just didnt publify (my new word:)) it first,. but in the end, darwin and the man (cant remember his name) both took the credit and lived happily ever after... :)
the camp waz awesome as i liked it alot! especially the lollies.
how much money did you spend on lollies?
i reckon you did great in organising the camp and i reckon you kept everyone satisfied!
yes animal camp was great!!! that was really interesting room5ian!
I'm glad I didn't go on horse camp as the two riding schools that the horse camp went to I've had riding lessons at.
I thought that animal camp was done really well but next year can we go to different places so I can come again??
I though Auckland zoo was better for the people but worse for the animals. At auckland you can see the animals up close but at hamilton they have HUGE enclosers and things.
I went to Horse Camp and it was also really fun!
The first two days we were at Waikato Equestrian Centre in Pukete. Me and Spud shared a chestnut horse called Brandy. Brandy was pretty tubby and short too, but she was also really fast.
The last two days we went to the Dean Phillips Riding School in Matangi.
we had a pretty white horse called Biggles. He was a lot different from Brandy and more challenging to ride because he tends to get nervous about a lot of things.
On the last day I had Biggles to myself and we went for a one-hour trek around the farm.
We came back to school at about 1:00 and we watched Flicka (a movie about horses) for the rest of the day.
It was really fun and now I'm really tired!
yes. i've done two courses at the equestrian centre and ABout 2 years ago I rode at Phillips Stables...but then my riding school had to move because of the racecource was right by the driveway....so I moved with my other instructer.......now 1 and a 1/2 years on I'm riding much better and love to canter jumps!!!
You should do riding lessons primprim! then you could get to see horses every week!!!!
sounds great!!
i think hamilton zoo is more of a park type of thing. but i was really impressed with the way that at both zoos the keepers were really passionate about what they were doing. i was really happy about the kiwis at auckland zoo, they had a really suitable enclosure and seemed really relaxed and happy with what they were doing and their environment.
they say ferrets, possems, rats, etc are the kiwis biggest preditors, but we are because if we werent here, those preditors wouldnt have even made it to nz and their environment would be complete. i think it is great having pest-proof fences etc and i think that it is probably the best thing that we can do, rather than trying to breed them* (which just makes more food for preditors), or placing them in zoos (which is not their natural habitat). basically thats just what happens out in their environment its part of the food chain, and if they cant survive...well...
i also think it is sad that posses and all them get a bad name for it when it is just what they do, its their nature, and how they survive....when its our fault for bringing them here.
*'them' being endangered birds, kiwis etc.
this is just one of my random opinions...what do you think?
I think you've got a really good point room5ian.
I went on bush camp and it was really tiring. we did a 4 hour tramp on the second 2 last day, and went on another hour tramp 2 where we were staying in the bush. we slept in tents when we were out in the bush and we slept really well since we had been walking for about five hours. there was a creek next 2 the camp, and at night we went down there and tried 2 catch some eels but we weren't successful . the bus ride was long and boring but we got there in the end.
kitty kat i thought you hated jumping! i love cantering and show-jumping! sometimes smaller jumps can be funner! i love barrel racing too! prim i've never been on a trek for the last three years of riding! how long have you been riding kitty kat?
if you think auckland zoo was mean then don't you think we're mean to horses jumping on their backs and make them run around everywhere
ya
You people are WAY to rightous. Oi carnt speel tu sayv mi lief!
i don't think its cruel. its called enriched play. i've ridden for 2 years. skipper b. you don't force the horse to do anything. if they don't want to then they buck you off...
think about walking your dog, or making them do tricks. they like it. its just enriched play.
sorry to dissapoint you woody but the best camp was xtreme adventures. we went rock climbing, abseiling, mountain biking, white water rafting, daytona racing, more rock climbing and we went to agroventures! it was awesome!
p.s. exxtreeeme!!!
p.p.s. exxxxtrreeeeeme!!!!
bye >:0===Q<
the other camps sound really great too!
alpha, please make your comments a bit more relevant than two letters.
skipper bob, i dont think auckland zoo is mean, i just think the animals environment could be improved for their benefit. also, i agree with kittykat, the animals are not being forced to do anything, they would definately expree it if they didnt in an understanderble way if they didnt.
oops, sorry about the structure of some of my last comment, i was meant too say....
also, i agree with kittykat, the animals are not being forced to do anything, they would definately express themselves in an understanderble way if they didnt.
waitomo was cool as we went caving, abseiling (i think thats how you spell it) and got a lot of mosqiutos (another word im not so sure about)
and im chickenwing because it wouldnt let me go back into my account. >:(
abseiling is ok and mosquitoes is the right way of spelling it. sounds like another great camp and i like your new account name

It was Snazzy (my new word)and flova (my other new word)
I think everyone should have a small booklet with new words they made up... that would be cool... because then you can check up on the words when you want to use them!!! YAY (a very cool word)
p.s that didn't make much sense
well, mirp pretty much covered my camp...
but on the last day i went with a girl from room 1 who had a horse called pheonix.
he was a shetland pny. with a small pony with it's back coming up just over a metre! WOW!
but yeah, she was the girl who lived there's show horse. the girl was called ELLIE she was a magnificent rider.>! well yeah. pheonix was her show horse and often tried to jump or trot off...! but she was totally fun to handle! (ps: she WAS a handful!! )
auckland was the best camp lol 8^)
me and my cabin have 5 pet ducks called george, georgina, mathew, madison, and one stripe fred. my favorite was one stripe fred. one day
i ate 2 packets of nerds in 24 hours on the last day i fed georgina nerds

Sorry 5'ian i don't have to.. i have to get off the blog sharpish..!remember things for chickens tomorrow!
i lost my voice at camp and only got it back on sunday. it was so dumb not being able to talk for 2days!!!!
It would be for you piglet! :)!
i just finished some of my novel thing and it looks pretty good......hmmmmmm......
poor you piglet!
i'm sick...no trick or treating for me!
happy helloween
I think trick or treating would be below us now
six feet under? (dramatic chords)
i think trick or treating is a little bit unsafe in some situations and think its kind of weird how you go up to people and ask for lollies...hmmm.
see this url to find out why we have/ what is halloween... and find out what happens during haloween in other countries........happy haloween everyone!!!
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Halloween#History
people are always saying don't talk to strangers or don't accept lollies from strangers but theres a holiday where you don't even listen to what the people say.
well done, spud, for reminding people about chicken stuff. i like your writing style too.
well done '5ian for researching and sharing.
nice to see g-man, killachinch, etc, chimin gin - killchinchilla - i like your thoughts about the oddness of halloween - its an american holiday, not one for us.
just commericalisation. and i agree wit h'5ian that it seems odd to go around threatenining people with 'tricks' if they don't want their privacy being invaded and so forth.
in fact, i hate halloween.
guy fawkes annoys me too cos of the animal abuse. the fireworks are kinda cool though, and we used to like blowing things [like models] up when we were kids.
the only thing i like about halloween is the lollies! but i think every body thinks that! lol luckily i didn't get poisned...
