At present you may not be entirely sure what the direction of the study is taking. Think along the lines of our environment, native species versus introduced pests and predators, habitat destruction, species extinctions, the web of life and how this is all related to us. Also, if there is a problem, can we do anything, and if so, what?
Who knows - maybe we should just kill everything,poison the Earth and live in megacity1 with wall to wall playstations everywhere.
You will have to have opinions and be able to justify them.

there are some useful nfo on my blog, i don't like the last one because most of it was from australia and i would really like to save new zealand endagered species, that would be cool

If there is any information or support people I can provide for environmental issues that you might be studying this term, please tell Mr Woody that I would be very happy to help.
Here are a couple of examples of the sort of people I have in mind -
* Alan Saunders from Hamilton, conservation specialist in protection of endangered birds especially on islands. He goes all over the world setting up programmes to help the locals get rid of introduced pests (like the possums in New Zealand). The latest place he has been to is the Galapagos Islands off Equador - see if you can find them on the map.
* Mike Donaghue from Coromandel - a Department of Conservation marine scientist specialising in whales and dolphins. He is the scientific advisor to the New Zealand committee that goes to the International Whaling Commission every year to stop countries from killing whales. The biggest battle is with Japan. This year they managed to keep the whales protected but Japan is trying very hard indeed and Mike fears that next year they may not be able to stop Japan and other nations from killing whales.
* There are lots of wonderful people I know from my days in the Department of Conservation who could be really interesting people to come and talk to you.
Whatever, let me know what focus Mr Woody wants to take with your studies. I will see if I can make any suggestions for resource people for you if you would like me to.
