Poverty
Poverty sucks - do you understand what it means and how millions of people around the world miss out on basic things we take for granted every day?
One of my cool teacher friends showed me this site - it's a game that helps you understand a bit more about poverty in our globalised world....
http://www.freepoverty.com/
Really it's about knowing geography so Hamiltron is th eman to beat.
On my first go I got donated 137 cups of water but i missed the first choice cos i didn't know what to do. See if you can beat me. :-)
Famine is another terrible thing, hence the highly distressing photograph - sorry if it's too awful for you, but ignorance is bliss and people need help.

Yeah, poverty back home is pretty serious. I heard that every 4 seconds a child dies of malnutrition and poverty. Famine is pretty serious as well. I think that poverty is also associated with the high inflation rates in developing nations. It is pretty shocking the way people suffer .
HamilTRON
Oh that is so sad.
I only managed to get about 88 cups.
in total of all the games ive played so far is 104 cups. another cool site to donate rice is: http://www.freerice.com/index.php
Mr Woody, will we be studing this in class?
And cant wait to see the class. Camp was fun and tiring but I missed the class and all the abnormal things we do in class!!
Freerice is cool as! However, poverty is not. It would be pretty bad to not have coninuous clean water (and yet my stepmother drinks it boiled!!!) and to have to rely on AID workers to give you such a plain food - rice! It makes me feel bad, because the rice on the plane was yukk, but I bet anyone who experience poverty would 1: Be amazed to be on a plane anyway and 2: Devour the whole plate with relish.
I donated 103 all up. I was pretty bad, and only got as high as the first level of medium.. once!!
I really like the free rice website as well, its good that people are giving to such needy causes.
Poverty is horrible. You could sort of relate this to people in N.Z on sickness benefit who sit on their bumbs all day not being sick but still earning money. Poverty is basically inevitable where people on the sickness benefit are just being lazy.
THis is about current affairs. Who knows what's happening in the COngo??
HamilTRON
*good work Olly.
*thanks Candycane! :-)
*careful what you say, Roo - you may need to know a bit more about sickness beneficiaries before you make such sweeping statements.
* the Congo is a hotbed of turmoil, 'Tron
- thanks for commenting, people :-) you rock
I really like the website.
I cant belive how much i leart and places around the world.
I got 104 cups of water!!!
Today I donated 624 cups of water!!! The game is very addictive :o) It has majorly helped with my geography
Also, you can get a badge that says how many cups of water you donated in that particular game, and promotes FreePoverty, that you can put on your blog!
