I just luv your chicken!!!! Yor kitty and Mannie are adorable!!! I was wondering, who knows why they are called Bantam Chikens? Who knows what Bantam means?

Bantam (chicken), a small (or miniaturized) domestic fowl, often with an aggressive, "puffed-up" disposition that can be comedic in light of its diminutive stature. Called a "Banty" for short in the rural United States.

Found at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bantam

I'll try and find out that after school, very good question.
and Manny's info:
Scientific classification
Domain: Eukaryota

Kingdom: Animalia
Phylum: Chordata
Class: Mammalia
Order: Carnivora
Family: Canidae
Genus: Canis
Species: C. lupus
Subspecies: C. l. familiaris

I fought I'd add info about 'MAN'S BEST FRIEND' because there isn't just a Chicken in the Photo. Actually might as well put in stuff about humans:

Kingdom: Animalia
Phylum: Chordata
Class: Mammalia
Order: Primates
Family: Hominidae
Genus: Homo
Species: H. sapiens
Subspecies: H. s. sapiens

Trinomial name
Homo sapiens sapiens

And many people like cats or the feline breed:

Kingdom: Animalia
Phylum: Chordata
Class: Mammalia
Order: Carnivora
Family: Felidae
Genus: Felis
Species: F. silvestris
Subspecies: F. s. catus

Trinomial name
Felis silvestris catus

Well I think thats enough in our ROOM5IAN BLOG

And COCO and MANNY are both very STUNING!!!

Over and out!

Yes hens can change into roosters!

This is where I got the info from:

i haven't got much info, but found an article! http://blog.modernmechanix.com/2007/03/22/hen-changed-to-rooster-by-biologists/

Hmm.... interesting, I looked on a site and it has two sides to the "can hen turn into rooster thing."
The first one is:
the chicken can and does change it's sex.the known occurences happen 1 in a thousand (not very often). They have been watching an egg laying hen cgange into a crowing, breeding rooster! There are lots of reason for this, most having to do with keeping the species alive. Apparently the hen will only change when there isn't a rooster around.
The second part is:
Some animals do change gender, but chickens don't. All very large groupers (type of fish) are male until they reach a certain weight then become female. It's called sequential hermaphroditism. When amales turn into females it's called protandry, and when females turn into males it's called protogyny. Only fish and some invertibrates use sequential hermaphroditism.
So as you can see it's hard to tell

The site i got it off may not be reliable I'm not sure.

Hens are awesome pets if you raise them from a young age. All you need is a secure cage and preferably a backyard protected by a gaurd dawg or very good vencing. Bob cats and coyotes love chickens.

I love my chickens to death :-D
