use macromedia flash to make animations.
i challenge you to have a go and stick with it. you will be able to achieve amazing results if you show what Mr Stevens calls "grit'.

use flash for making quality animations. search google for other examples.
you can do it! will take some effort though. it won't be instantaneous like the game making we did at uni.
