word study lists
please put the most interesting words from this week's word study list as comments on this post with their meanings.
Iridescent; displaying a spectrum of colours that shimmer and change due to interferance or as the observer changes position. Treacherous; Betrayal or disloyalty. Xenophobia; Fear or hatred of people from another race. Paraphernalia; Someones personal bellongings (I forgot what the other words were!)
Incorriggible-bad beyond correction or reform Intercept-to take seize or halt someone or something on the way from one place to another Subsidiary-serving to assist or supplement thats all i can remember! ill try to think of more
Sovereign: The most powerful person in a country eg: Mr Woody is the sovereign of Room 5!
The longest word I know is 58 leters starting with ll and ending in gogoch. The English language is one of the hardest languages to learn. I think it's cause' of all of the rules!
Hullucination: A sensory experience in which a person can see, hear, smell, taste or feel something that isn’t there. search.alz.org/Resources/Glossary.asp
Hullucination is actually spelt Hallucination!! I agree with the definiton though. For xenophobia, the dictionary says: The fear or hatred of people from other countries.
But if the word is xenoPHOBIA wouldn't it just be the fear of people from other countries?
hamiltron also said- things that are not connected with each each other. that's bad grammar. i dont know any others but some of our names might be misspelt...i hope i didn't spell any words wrong
GOOD SPOTTING MUDPIES AND KITTYMILO! opps, I was in caps! sorry bout that! I can b botherd changing it! my influental person project is on my blog now, but it isnt my good copy, as I am going to present it!
