Film making and digital storytelling

Hi team, I'm loving these hols with all the good weather, a chance to get in my garden and having time to film and edit an interesting project or three.
How are you all using your school holidays?
It's time to get out and plant your vege gardens too.

Room5ian garden in spring

Well, I better go into the greenhouse today to check your seedlings.
Mine are not spouting at home becuase its too cold. I will take some to school to compare the results when placed in the greenhouse. It will be a kind of fair test as I have used the same seeds, same soil and seedraising mix. I'm trying to start a crop of really hot chillis and delicious old-fashioned [heirloom] tomatoes.

Sustainable Room5ians

Room5ians have expressed an interest in sustainable farming, growing 'clean, green' food and raising free range organic chickens for eggs.

If we can plan and implement a realistic programme for developing an area of the school as an organic, sustainable "farmlet", and we are prepared to stick with it and follow it through, we have permission to do so.

Please state all the positives, potential barriers, solutions and innovative ideas you have.

Why should we? How can we? Do you want to? What will we do to make it happen?

What are you doing?

What are all the Room5ians doing? I have had several highlights - visiting my grandparents on ANZAC Day and having a really amazing date for my wedding anniversary.
What are you doing for your holiday?
Today I am following my chickens around wondering why they aren't laying, planting winter crops in the vege garden and walking the dog. To show how sad my life is, i just got excited over the idea of buying a new bail of barley straw to use for the chook house and the garden...

I bet your Kakepuku stories are coming along nicely - if you have written any on your blog, say so here so we can go and read it for you.

Term Two will start with finsihing our Kakepuku sotries and our digital stories about HamiltON.
After that we will be doing lots of maths, science and different styles of writing. Science fair is coming up too so get thinking about interesting topics... not things like "which fabric softener works best" or anything boring like that.
