You have a PXT from AGENT S
Inside the V8 control centre.... thanks for the inside info, Agent S.
Wow cool as!!! I wish I was in that that room for coverage for the V8's! I wish you could control the cars too make Kiwi's win our race. Na! I'm only joking. Go Hard And Race Fair Drivers.
The racing was so awesome. I never realised Mini's could go so fast. The Porche's were so fast and smooth. I didn't know that the Toyota's were going to be open wheeler's. The NZV8's were real grunty. Now the big mumma's the V8 Super cars. The sound was so loud. The petrol was blowing up right on in front of me. One V8 crashed losing a wheel by riding up on the side of the track.
The entertainment was cool with people on mototrbikes doing stunts. There were two Holden Ute's doing donuts. Going in the pits was really cool.
AWESOME!!! I wanna work there!!! Nah, just kidding. But that is a great place to work. Hey, people, how was the first V8 thingy??? I am in Auckland. Goodness, I am tired!!!
Some of the things the council is doing to even out the carbon emissions are they will plant 1000 extra trees in and around the city this year above the usual amount it plants each year for beautification. Trees help absorb carbon emissions from vehicles.
The council is also providing parking for cyclists to encourage more people to bike into and around the city.
There are "park'n'ride" facilities provided on the outskirts of the city, for people travelling from outside to leave their cars and catch a bus.
Bus services throughout Hamilton will be free during race days, and more buses will be available.
Aaron Fleming, environmental policy adviser to HCC, said greening the V8s was more about informing the audience about sustainable driving practices - "providing people with alternative forms of transportation and recycling at the event".
The greening programme in Hamilton is part of the V8 Racing Green programme that aims to educate fans across Australia, New Zealand and Bahrain about climate change. It also plans to plant 15,000 native trees across the three countries.
All of this action is needed to even out the carbon emissions as it is not just the racing cars that will be a source of the pollution, with some other carbon emmissions including people travelling to and from the event by cars, buses and flights (international and domestic); transportation for the cars racing in the event; reshaping and resurfacing of roads; the construction and implementation of barriers, grandstands and pitstops; and transportation of equipment such as the safety fencing, which has been shipped over from Melbourne.
some information is directly copied from the v8 magazine from the article of with the title; Green: the v8 colour of choice.
go to this website for some interesting stuff and big numbers to do with the v8s that arent reallly important, but interesting! http://www.stuff.co.nz/4483064a13275.html
The T.V room is just across the race track from the pit stop. I wanna go! It sounds awesome Roo! My Dad is lucky cause he gets to photograph the V8's! He also photographed the ruby which the chiefs won!! GO CHEIFS (As possum would say!). It was really col getting to hear the V8's from peachgrove assembly! I thought the noise awas an aeroplane at first, untill Mrs wetare (I think thats how you spell it?) said that it was actually the V8's!
Im watching the V8's on TV right this second!! Its suprisingly really interesting, as you actually know where hey are racing, and it fun too see them zooming in and out of the pit stops! But... THe V8s are leaving huge skid marlks on our streets, I wonder if they will be still there when we are driving normally afterwards! Last time I checked Greg murphy was in 20th, as he didnt get a good starting position because in the previous race he spun out and came 23rd! =o( GO THE V8S!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Ha guys I was there... it was realy loud my family and I were fundrasing byselling ear plugs and rain jackets. We started selling on Saturday we made more than $800, the next day we made more than $200 that because it didn't rain so we didn't sell much rain juckets but it was o.k
me and my family were talking about how the v8s will supposedly make town busy and bars packed etc. and we decided that that wasnt really happening when we went down the main street at night. we decided that out of the, say 60000 people, how many of them are there for business reasons, with family, staying with friends, have kids etc. because most these people will not make any businesses in town busier because they will have a BBQ with family and friends, or people waorking there cant afford to go partying when there is work in the morningo attend to, and there are lots of other reasons why people have other options or better things to than hit the town after a long day at the races. along with that i know some people may be reluctant to go anywhere near town because of the way news informers are declaring total chaos every night after the races. yes, hamilton is gaining a lot of publicity from the v8s, but i am still waiting to se the "chaos", which would be a benefit to the late night main street of hamilton, that was predicted.
Room5ian - you are too cool for school. Please look after me when you eventually take over the world with your great wisdom. I agree with your sentiments - it will be better next year when more locals will realise they don't have to hide from town for several days. And fences at each end of the 'party zone' won't be necessary either i suspect. but good on them for trying to cover all bases. it has been a learning experience...and nothing bad happended, except for Holden winnin three out of three!!
Hey there! Lots of people who owned resturants were complaining because they were told to order heaps of food in for the V8's and then none of the peolple came in and ate! One resturant had only 16 people through on the saturday, when he would normally have about 45! Well, its all over for a nother year, and Garth tander won!!!! (Poor Greg murphy spun out on the first race and never regained a good position! My dad got me and my sister a n awesome HamiltON bag, with loads and loads of info about HamiltON! It will hopefully be very good for a hamiltOn inquiry projects! It included 2 cd's one about hamitON and one abut the V'8's but it didnt work on our home computer so hopefull it will work on the schools macs! I thinlk he got it from the press lounge, as he was a photographer there!
Mr Woody how is it carbon neutral? This might seem like a dumb question but Mr Woody how were the V8s carbon neutral? I have forgotten...... How is it carbon neutral when all the people who came into the city from somewhere else would've used car or an aeroplane?
P.S. Can someone tell me what carbon footprint means? I looked on the internet but the sites don't give SIMPLE meanings (That's what I think).
It's carbon neutral because they are planting (as im a room5ian said) 1000 extra trees around the city this year, on top of the usual amount it plants each year. they are encouraging people to take the bus or to bike, instead of taking separate cars. They are encouraging people to recycle - and just to be green in general! If you read im a room5ian's comments you will find out loads about how the council are being carbon neutral. Even if V8 fans did come here by car or aeroplane, the council are trying to counter-act it by planting trees and stuff :o) I think carbon footprint means littering, wasting power, leaving the lights on when you're out of the room, and throwing away recyclable things. Oh, and if you went to a beach, ruining animal's habitats would be like leaving a carbon footprint. That's why when you go on school trips to the beach, and you collect shells and stuff, they tell you to put them back where you found them afterwards. Am I right Mr Woody?
yes, well done Mudpies. And you are right to gently chide Mechboy who should have read the earlier info to know what he needed. See links like this one to read about and calculate your carbon footprint...
Sorry Mr Woody............:-( The Council are TRYING to make people recycle, but I don't think it will work. The trees might help a bit though.
P.S. I think I confused myself when I wrote my last post! It came out wrong. I guess that shows that I should read over my work more carefully. Did you know trees breath in oxygen as well as carbon dioxide.
Well I think it was a success. Mr. Woody, what's this about the only bad thing being Holden winning 3-0? One thing that really burns my tyres is that the people that were in the 'bad' stand get first pick for tickets for next years V8's. Hopefully they can only get the same stand instead of being able to choose any stand they want. I hope I get the same seats as this year for next years V8's. I was in a really good spot along the main straight. I was in the big stand that was beside the funny stand and I was right on the edge so I could see the Jim Bean corner and the Start and Finish line.
YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY!!!!!!!!! THanx to Mudpies, and Roo I now have a clustrmap!, but right now it is blanc because no one has been on my blog since I put it on, so please come to my blog and help me make my clustrmap interesting!!!
the council is trying to promote recycling but i dont think they are doing everything they can to make it happen. maybe there could be a new design of compact, easy-to-use, recycling bins down the main street.....?

Apparently it's mayhem in town...
Wow, there is LOADS of votes on the poll!!
No not really there isn't much mayhem.
And yes I had lots of fun.
I collected lots of posters.

Also, I now have a ClustrMap! (Thanks to roo!!) If you want to know how to get one, it's on 'Super Blog!' :c)
Oh my gosh! Apparently we are making 19.613 tonnes of CO2! (Which is mainly because Dad drives to Auckland every day for his work)
Sorry Mr Woody............:-(
